Robert James Ferguson was born on January 27, 1929, in Black Hawk County, the son of William and Josephine (Jacobs) Ferguson. He graduated from Waterloo East High School. On May 21, 1960, Robert was united in marriage to Donna Thiele at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Robert worked as a meat cutter at Rath Packaging for many years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, anything to do with airplanes and spending time with his family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Pam (John) Johnson of Newton and Sue Ferguson of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Chad Ferguson, Alex Johnson and Anna Johnson; and three sisters, Catherine, Carole, and Marjory. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
