William “Bill” Lou Potter was born on June 12, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Lou and Mary Katharine (Furry) Potter.  Bill attended Waterloo schools and graduated from West High in 1959.  He then attended Winona State in Winona, Minnesota.  On May 27, 1965, Bill was united in marriage to Christine Schneider at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Waterloo and later moved to Dysart.  Bill worked at John Deere for many years, retiring in 1997 to take care of his wife.  Christine died on May 12, 2007.  One of Bill’s greatest joys was fishing at the river in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin.  Bill died at the age of 70, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.  He is survived by two daughters, Joanna (Kent) Mathews of Madison, Wisconsin and Anne Potter of Waterloo; a brother, Steve Potter of McGregor, Iowa; twin grandsons, Ross and Ty; and a sister in law, Judy (Jim) Judas of Rockwell City, Iowa. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
