Karen Rae Stratton was born on June 29, 1941, in Waterloo, the daughter of Ray and Hazel (Hughes) Ocheltree. She grew up in Dysart and graduated from Dysart High School. On November 19, 1960, Karen was united in marriage to Barry Lamont Stratton. Karen worked at Canteen Food Service as a truck and kitchen manager, Cadillac Lanes as a manager, and retired from Velocity Express. She was an avid bowler and was one the best female bowlers in the 1970s and 1980s. She was also a season ticket holder for the Waterloo Blackhawks for decades. You could not find anyone who loved dogs more than Karen. Karen died at the age of 71 on March 1, 2013 at her home in Waterloo. She is survived by a son, Barry (Jody) Stratton of Hudson; a granddaughter, Kaitlin Clark of Hudson; and many other family members and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years; and a special friend, Lynde.
