Gene L. Terry, 87, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully in the presence of his daughter, Renae on the morning of August 11, 2013.  He has now been reunited in heaven with his soul mate, Nancy, whom departed this earth before him on March 4, 2013.

Gene was born on April 14, 1926, on a farm outside of Fordland, Missouri, the second of six children born to Edgar and Pearl (Terrill) Terry.  Gene attended many country schools as a child traveling with his family for father’s work with the railroad.  He started work in his teens until he was drafted into the military to serve his country toward the end of WWII with the occupational forces in Japan.  Gene worked for 32 1/2 years in the foundry of John Deere retiring in October 1981. He married Nancy A. Lang on July 12, 1969, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  Two children were born into this union, Craig William, who died in infancy, and Renae Ellen.

Gene lived a very full life with his family and was a very loving and giving man.  He was an avid gardener, loved to travel, and was a very hard worker all through his life.  He was a member of Central Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, UAW Local 838 and had previously bowled on a league for more than 20 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Renae of Waterloo; a sister, Lucille Terry of Newburg, Mo., and a brother-in-law Jerry (Bernie) Lang of Lake Placid, Fla.

He is preceded in death by a son, Craig; three brothers, William, Doris and Allen; and a sister Lenora; who died in infancy.

Gene had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. His infectious smile and warmth will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
