Bruce A. Overton email: bruce@overtonservice.com Bruce is a third generation Funeral Director the son of Milford L. Overton and grandson of C.C. Overton. Bruce is president of Overton Family Funeral Homes, serving Iowa families with his son Blair and nephews Shawn and Stuart. The Overton's serve several communities ranting from 600 to 90,000 residents at seven locations. Bruce remains active in his community as has served as past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and is Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. Bruce is also a member of the Shrine, Jesters, and presently serving as vice chairman of the local municipal utility and treasure of the community owned care center. Bruce received his education at the University of Northern Iowa and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. Thru additional educational programs he has earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service. Bruce is active in his professional association and served as President of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association in 1986-87 and was President of the National Funeral Directors Association in 1995-96. He also is a Past President of the National Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC) as well as the Academy of Professional Funeral Service. He currently is serving on the American Board of Funeral Service Education and is on the National Funeral Directors Committee of Professional Conduct. |

Shawn Overton email: shawn.overton@overtonservice.com Shawn has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1983. He received his high school education from Dysart-Geneseo High School in Dysart, Iowa. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa and in 1981 attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation, he was presented the Albert Worsham Memorial Award in recognition of Outstanding Academic Achievement, the Mu Sigma Alpha Award and Embalming Theory Award. Upon returning home he joined the family firm. Shawn makes his home in Traer, Iowa where he attends the United Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Traer Lions Club, and Hesperia Masonic Lodge. He is married to his wife Cherie who is a Special Education Teacher in the South Tama School District in Tama, Iowa. They have two sons Blake and Brodie. |

Blair A. Overton email: blair@overtonservice.com Blair has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1992. He was raised in Traer, Iowa, and was a graduate of North Tama High School in 1986. Blair continued his education at the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1990. He received his education in Mortuary Sciences at the New England Institute in Boston, Mass. and while in Boston worked full time for the J. S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home. Upon his graduation in 1991 he received the Fredrick J. Walker, Jr. award for the highest academic average and the Founders Award for most promise of outstanding contribution to funeral service. Blair and his wife, Whitney, have three sons, Alexander, Tyler & Ryan. Blair and his family make their home in Johnston, Iowa. |

Christine M. Erie email: chris@overtonservice.com Christine has been a licensed funeral director with Overton Family Funeral Homes since 2003. She was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, and was a graduate of West High School. Christine continued her education at Hawkeye Community College and Upper Iowa University. She attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois. Christine makes her home in Waterloo, with her husband Greg and son Henry. She is a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and is also involved in the Waterloo Police Auxiliary, Kimball Ridge Association and the Grout Museum District. |

Nick Skurdal email: nick@overtonservice.com Nick is a newly licensed funeral director and has been with the Overton Family Funeral Homes since May of 2008. He received his high school education from North Fayette High School in West Union, IA. Nick continued his education at Wartburg College, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 2006. In 2007, he received his Mortuary Science Degree from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny, IA. While attending DMACC, Nick received the James R. Corson Memorial Scholarship and the Jack G. Dodds Memorial Scholarship, both from the Iowa Funeral Director's Association. Nick and his wife, Alicia, live in Cedar Falls and attend Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Paul A. Smith email: psmith@overtonservice.com Paul has been a licensed funeral director since December, 2009 after serving his internship with the Overton Family Funeral Homes. He is a graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines. Paul furthered his education and graduated from Hawkeye Community College and the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Economics and Finance in 1988. He received his education in Mortuary Science at the Des Moines Area Community College and graduated in August 2008. Paul and his wife, Gina, are the adoptive parents of twin sons, Austin and Grant. They reside in Waterloo and attend church at Trinity Bible Church in Cedar Falls. Paul and his family enjoy camping in their spare time. |

Sandy Sheda email:sandy@overtonservice.com Sandy joined the Overton Family Funeral Home in 2002 after 30 years of banking experience. She graduated from South Tama Community Schools and Cedar Rapids Business College. She and her husband Larry have lived on and off in Traer for over 30 years. Sandy works out of the Traer office and handles a variety of duties which include reception and general office functions. She is also there to help families during visitations and funerals. Sandy is a member of the Traer Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees and Board of Deacons, and is Treasurer of Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center. She and her husband are the parents of two daughters, Kimberly and Kelli and two grandchildren Payton and Jamison.
